When you come to a fork in the path, Take it!
The left fork of the path leads to the Charlotte M. Hoak Memorial where you will find the beginning of a short loop through some sections of profoundly dwarfed pygmy forest and transitional Cypress forest. The loop starts and ends at the memorial.
The right fork goes through a section of pygmy forest and into the Redwoods. I have hiked this trail and it is not well established. The path meanders south, west and north again through the heart of a Redwood forest and decends down a steep canyon. I meant to walk down to the bottom of the canyon the other day, but between the canyon wall on one side and the prospect of an injurious fall on the other, (the trail being only as wide as my shoe is broad), I turned back short of my goal.
